Help me make the choice

ive been doing my homework on the AU and BA and everytime i see the BA i want it

what ive thought/know
BA is a little if not more economical (fuel)(theorectically and technically)
i love my AU dont get me wrong but the BA just seems more appealing
the BA is cheaper to buy run service
some reason insurance for me is cheap in a BA
parts from my FORD dealer are cheaper in BA
theres more than enough of them wrecked for me to go bankrupt

though
the AU is becoming a unique looking car and i quite LOVE it
the interior feel is much better but since being in a BA..well F6 tornado the AU feels well somethings missing.
the AU feels more raw and meaty then the BA the BA feels like theres too much plastic and cant really feel the car if u know what i mean

i dont no im gonna sleep on it and probably check some dealers out and car yards tomorrow

just dont want to regret it later!

Bah id stick with the AU, not big enough step really, now if you had an AUI or an EL id say go for it.

Though i must admit with BA prices going south its tempting, but some of your point are odd.

BA cheaper to buy/run/serivce ? huh
and if your talking auto's economy isnt really better.

If it was me (100% opinion), id save your pennies and wait a bit longer until orion even and then get a hot shot BF Ghia or something like that, because the resale aint going to get better and with the BF you will get better fuel economy unlike with the BA.

BA cheaper to run? its hauling a lot of weight around. Bottom of the range XT weighs more than my AU2 XR8 (wheels/motor source). My old AU1 futura was one of the most economical cars i've ever had.

Keep the AU, get a T2/3 kit on it

Wait for orion to be released in 2 years... then decide what looks best....

Wait 6 years for the post orion All new falcon to be released... then decide what looks best....

My personal opinion is that the stock BA XT looks as crappy as the stock AU, and the T3 kit on the AU looks (IMHO) meatier and more unique then a BA XR kit, although I like that, but in a more muscley way....

If I didn't own either, and was looking at buying, for value and looks, I would get a fairmont ghia (for the interior), and chuck a T2 kit on it...

What BA are you looking at getting? XT, Futura, Fairmont, XR, FPV?

If your looking at XR, and you keep the AU SR, do some zorst mods.
If your looking at fairmont, go the AU - the interior is different from the base model
If your looking XT/Futura, don't waste your time.... stick with what you have
If your looking FPV, seeing you own an AU SR, anything would be better: AU& BA XR6/8/T series - FPV Range....

As nice as the BA is on paper, it looks SO bland. Fair enough it's got more potential to achieve quick 1/4 times and horsepower, but really, they dont have the personality of an AU.

Still, if a BA floats your boat, go for it.

This could easily turn into the never ending "waiting for the next model" syndrome.

Personally, I say go for it, if that is what you want, then whats stopping you?

Im in much the same predicament (sp?). I have an AU, and would love to upgrade to a BA XR8 or T, but I just see too many, and the AU is soooo purdyyyy...

if your gonna get one, try to set a new precedent in the way of the unique BA rather than leaving it to look like everyother Blue XR6T u see in street fords (turbo or not). its the only problem in my eyes is no one has clearly defined their BA from everyone elses yet.

the AU if you ask me has much more room for unique aesthetics and certainly makes you work harder to achieve performance in way of mods.

Depends how much you want to spend ! and how much you are willing to lose.

Which BA can you afford compared to what you can do to the AU.
You mention Tornado to COMPARE which AU ? There isn't one.

I went through this just recently, could afford ALL BAMk11 barring GTP.
Ended up getting a TS50, go figure that out ! LOL.......

got about 12-15k on top of what should have been 18k on the SR but thats about 10-12 MAYBE so at least 22k..ohhhhhhhh well didnt work that bit out before im not getting a new car frig it to loose all that money for more plastic forget it

oh and i was comparing the F6 Tornado to mine...bit like 'apples and oranges' hahah (stupid ad) anyways ive made my mind up

ive made my decision AU unless i can find a really good AU ute for cheap - really want and need it for the holidays on the mines ANYONE?

AU's dash is full of rattly cheap plastic. BA is alot better.

My advice is simple. If you buy a BA make sure you have a warranty with it because you will get VERY ****ed otheriwse. AUs are damn reliable , one of the many things i miss about my AU........

yea never driven a BA from full to empty and long enough to see fuel economy but in theory and the design of the engine its meant to be real fuel economical...meant to be and i guess i might keep the AU for another 4 years or so or until i finish uni then upgrade or destroy the car - rather see it burn then sell it less than 5k

carsik youv almost made the decision worse but most of those points are true...the AU is damn reliable and being 2nd hand and 116k ive never had a problem with it (except when it was my fault) but im gonna wait for the new falcon range to come out and BA to be like the AU..

anyways thanks to everyone for your input but im gonna stick with my AU learn off it - basically how stuff works...then upgrade to BF in few years time or a big 4WD F250 super chief...LOL

Sorry , not true - in VCT form anyway. 250kms per tank was all i was getting in the AU before the exhaust / chip went on then it improved to about 310kms. (metro city) With the BA (dead stock) 350kms minimum per tank.

Its a hard decision but i made it not too long ago and im driving a BA.

Dam thats still poor, I have an AU2 Stock and i get around 550-600 when doing both city and country driving or around 500-550 around town

I think the au still has the better fuel ecc

I do two 5 minute trips per day in city trafic , 350kms per tank is good. Beat the AU hands down , and the AU was in top shape with 80,000kms.

It must be the short trips that makes all the difference,For me to and from work, each way is atleast a 25min drive

Like what Bluedriver said, it depends how much you have and what you expect to get.

Fact remains year by year falcons get better and better no if no buts. Yes i own an AU and mine has been one of the more reliable ones out there.

I will say this the AU has a very nice steering feel, i like its directness and sharpness, on the road you feel exactly what the front wheels are doing. Despite the liveaxle its a Falcon that actually goes around the bend when compared to earlier models. However the BA adds polished refiment to this and the suspension package is a step towards the european suspension tune. Taut yet remaining confortable. Same with the engine while the BA is heavier the engine is more crisp, has more power and sounds better.
