Default 2003 Ford Focus RH window not working

Hey guys,

Just a quick one - has anyone replaced a window motor/reg for a Focus? The one in my girlfriend's 3-door Zetec failed and now the window doesn't go down. I'm in the process of looking for a new reg but want to know if it's fairly easy to install.

Luke

I got it done by the local auto-electrician a few months back, I think he charged $80 in labour (which is a fraction of the part cost) and that also included pulling the door apart twice due to having the wrong part the first time around. He also commented that it was a pain to get to...

Had mine done 4 years back cost around $220 at Ford.

I was living in the Northern Territory at the time and had no option to use Ford.

Better going with a sparkie because Ford is a rort!

Thanks guys.

To be honest, $220 is a lot cheaper than I thought. Did they replace the window/reg and motor? What was the cost of the part?

We tried the fix where you bang the motor and hold the window switch down but it didn't work (plenty of advice around the net to do this).

Was just the switch in the door I think, everything else was fine.

If you have the right tool i think a multimeter you can test what is broken.

Don't ask me how to do it I saw it on a car show once. hahahaha

I have the receipt at home When i get home I will check what part exactly they did.

In my deep dark memory, I think I had this problem too. From memory it was also the switch...bad contacts??? I think some corrosion got into the contacts...just need a good clean with a scourer.

Certainly worth trying before forking out for a new regulator

True that. I'll give it a crack tonight after work if I have any motivation left!

Thanks.

The window switches always develop bad contacts on the bigger fords.Need a clean our every couple of years. They run the current through them not activating relays.

Thanks mate. Also found out it's not the switch. Is the reg and motor one unit? Might order from the UK - $170 delivered for a new one.
