Default Mafless tune....??

Ok, A mate of mine got a Mafless tune and airbox on his VY SS and picked up nearly 40rwkw..
Now, that got me thinking...
Does anybody do a Mafless tune For the 5.0 and 5.6's....?

Has anybody had their's done..? What gains have you had...?

Anybody in Melbourne do this...? (workshop)

Cheers
Kris

I have been told the ECU in the holdens can accommodate a mafless tune but it can't be done for the ford unless you put in an aftermarket ECU

I run a maffless tune in my AU, wouldn't do it again..

TPS based tunes can be great for HP, but can lose partial throttle "manners" as mine did.

In saying that there was a barely measurable gain over a 90mm MAF. Thats my advice.. Upgrade MAF.. Dont go maffless..

yeah hes right, from memory the ecu needs to read a "map" sensor to tune without a mass air flow sensor, which i highly doubt can be flashed out and map sensor picked up. All though if you where looking at getting a flash tuner then then money could be better put towards and after market ecu and tune. Im sure you will pick up ponnies without the maf/big intake pipe and retune.

It has a dead spot on initial acceleration, can really feel it under light throttle, if nailing it from idle it has a real hesitation. Which I read is common.. Other then that the car runs better then it ever has.

Matt from chiptorque is confident of resolving it maffless with my ollld chiptorque chip (not edit). I am not so sure, but time will tell..

Don't do it kristo, there are a billion things to buy before that!

I actually wasn't planning on it.. It just got me thinking when i saw a stock SS go from 186rwkw to 222rwkw..
I figured there had to be something like that with the windsor....

So the mafless tune produced alot more power on yours cam..?
Obviously the whole "stroking" would have as well, but, just the mafless tune, what results did you see....?

I recently picked up an SV8 and was looking into this, however for a bit of an idea (I know its a Holden forum alright :P ) go view some threads over on ls1.com.au and look up a user called "UncleTone", there are also a million threads on MAF vs MAF-LESS.

I will be sticking with my MAF as the fines for not having it up here in QLD are rather nasty!

Maffless tune made no real power increase, I could've gone back to maf then. But chose maffless... "because I can"
