engine conversion

hey guys

i was wondering about an engine conversion for my 72 tc cortina.
it currently runs the stocko 2L but its in terrible condition so i figured i might as well get it before it gets me.

was thinking of a v6 as insurance for v8's is ridiculus but have virtually no idea of where to look or what enginesare suitable for my car.

any advice or just pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
