Spot on. I find it helps beat the black dog down a bit when things get rough. Having the endorphin hit after a ride is a feeling like no other. People think you've been on the crack pipe.

I also find similar release in my photography too. Just getting out into the fresh air and doing something more interesting helps break up the monotony of life.
