Default Re: Engine mods for mk2 escort

Hey Clige, I know you said you "don't want a race car" but that's how it all starts, believe me. Here's a little advice if you want it. Don't waste your money trying to mod the 1600 for more "power". The type of "power" that is required from your 1600 so it could even remotely keeps up against a late model 1.6 Corolla is going to cost you a fortune. And the same goes for the 2ltr. Don't waste your money chasing "power" from either engine.

The Escort is a classic, and now getting very rare. Enjoy it as it is. It is long past it's "power" days. Look after it as it is and only fix things as required, and keep it as close to OEM as possible. Please don't go chasing more "power" from these motors. You will end up broke and unhappy with the results.

Again, keep it as is, and maintain it as it came from factory as much as possible. It will be worth more $$ that way, and you'd be less embarrassed when you try to run a Corolla off the lights. Technology has come a long way in the last 50 years or so.
