I looked at those quarterly sales of mid-sized SUVs, man there's some good
sales numbers in there for the Koreans and Japanese. Once upon a time,
most of those types of buyers would have been large sedan / S'wagon buyers.
(Not those exact people but the demographic they represent.)
So people are right to say that car buyers have moved to small and mid-sized SUVs
and that Korean and Japanese brands have won them over. I look at these two segments
as where Ford and Holden can and should be doing more to attract buyers.
The question is what types of features do their vehicles need to stand out from all the others,
should they offer hybrids for efficiency? as power adders?, should there be ST models?
Whatever they do in those segments, cannot simply be competing at the vanilla entry point,
if you buy a Holden/Ford, it has to have good handling, brakes, and feel like a complete package
all without feeling like you're losing your shirt.
