Re: Home Theatre systems

Okay, so my few cents worth.
The so called - Home Theater - in modern homes is nothing but.
The emphasis is on big screen, tiny, descreet, speakers.
Most HT's are around 4m x 3m x 2.7m (height).
A 40Htz signal, has a wavelength of about 8.5 metres.
IOW, the 'sound' is best heard in the next room, and any sound you hear or feel (i.e. the explosion) is generally the result of the reflected sound from the next room/roof cavity.
Just a note, I remember many a pub band blasting above and beyond the point of reasonable, and standing at the bar seemed louder (hell, the bar was shuddering - and my breast bone), where as standing in front of the speaker bins was a non event - the bass sound passed right through you.
Room size is critical, and these mod squad home theaters are lacking.
