View Full Version : Devil R
Alittle late but it finally arrived a few days ago.
It's a great colour which is enhanced even further with the red decals. Here is the Devil R:

It's exactly like the pic with Marcos in it, as in light blue stitching.
And they are not numbered either.
Thanks for the reply RATT, good to see they are the darker colour inside.

Its an awesome looking car, but i think Ford should have done a bit more to them to set them apart from the normal XR8 (besides decals, badging and devil r parts) A little more power for instances, or a slightly varied bodykit. But still i wouldnt mind having one.
Thanks for the reply RATT, good to see they are the darker colour inside.

No thanks, overpriced as usual for Ford.
Not enough sets it apart from the standard Xr8, just Ford attempting to cash-in it would appear to me.
Edited.
My views on Ford dealers remain, I haven't met a decent one yet.
Cdaa,
I have only posted three times, because I am a reader/researcher usually. I am also usually posting in the other fordforum and only stumbled on this one recently.

I haven't seen this RATT guy offer anything decent in this or the OTHER fordforum. Just another Ford dealer/salesman out to make as much money as possible at the expense of Joe Public.
Yes I have been badly burned by a Ford dealer in the past, and now I treat them all with the contempt they deserve. I can't distinguish between a car salesman and a real estate agent, can you?You’re out of line here. Ratt (Dean) has been a long standing and creditable member of the forum (and others) and has bent over backwards to help many members without personal gain. I'm sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with Ford dealers (many of us have at some stage), but to come onto this forum after only 3 posts and make an unjustified assessment on someone professionally, Ford dealer of not is totally unacceptable.

I remember you very well steviewonder.
If you have a personal issue with me, take it up with me via pm or a phone call. I have obviously never dealt with you so please reserve judgement till you have dealt with me. My assistance to fellow forumers is mainly via pm regarding prices etc as I believe that is being fair to other members and any dealers browsing the forums.
A total of 9 members on both forums have purchased cars at the best possible price in the last 12 months so hopefully that is a gauge for you to measure me compared to others.
I suggest you have a look at some of the other threads on the PWS forum and low and behold you'll find a thread that has "specials" in it. Such as an 04 XR6 Turbo sedan for $36990 drive away.
This thread was started, like the one on the LTD with 20's mainly to inform people of what we have rather than an offer. People are free to make a choice on what they make of it as you do.
So let's get back on topic.

Mothers day obviously wasn't a good one for you eh? :hatthing: :weirdo:
Dean is always offering great deals along with plenty of information for members of this forum and it is good of him to go out of his way to take pictures of new products etc. Go try and find a picture of a Devil R on the Ford website that gives you a decent depiction of what the car actually looks like outside of a studio..
Also considering his company pays a sponsorship to this website they are entitled to market their vehicles if they wish to. I don't see Dean flooding the website with cars on a daily basis, usually he just gives the best value for money vehicles they have in stock that may appeal to someone on the forum. An example would be the XR6 Turbo he mentions above or even the XR8 Mark II he has in used that I've read about......
Maybe you should go buy a Holden mate :shootout:

Stevie "i got to" Wonder,
I do not know RATT from a bar of soap and yet he has kindly answered all of my questions of which i am thankful. You claim to be a researcher but have gone off half cocked making statements that have no substance.
you claim they are overpriced ? yet the full list of extra's listed below amount to approx 8K and with an extra tag of around 3K that makes roughly a 5K saving.
this combined with a limited run, shows good value for your buck.
* Prestige paint
* Unique Badging (side only) Devil R or Enforcer
* Contrasting Bonnet Bulge Decal (Devil R in red or Enforcer in Black)
* Sports XR leather seats with Devil R or Enforcer Embroided in headrests
* Sports Steering Wheel
* Premium Brakes
* 18" alloy wheels with unique "Shadow Chrome" appearance
* 18" alloy spare wheel
* Unique carpet mats with Devil R or Enforcer embroided logos.
As to your views on meeting a decent dealer blind freddy will tell you there is more than just selling a car, it is about ongoing and repeat sales any monkey can sell something once, but to continue to be successful you must be doing something right.
I personally would like thank Ratt for his help and having been in top level sales for many years, it appears both he and his team run a very proffessional and up front operation and i am sure that this car wont last long and will find a happy owner, with some great back up to follow.
Cheers

gotto agree with DOC iam a cynic at best and understand steviewonder37's concern however it is unfair to come onto a forum with astatement like that after 3 posts.perhaps it was astatement of frustration due to his experiances . in anycaes ratt if i'd 've been on the forum before i purchased i'd ve definately had a chat to you. have heard nothing but good remarks about peter warren smithfield. in any case i'm sure it wasn't personal.
Looks nice, but I still can't handle the stickers on the buldge. Would have been nice if the bodykit was a little different to make it more unique than just a plain XR8.

I was always going to buy an xr8 but i held out for the MKII and i chose to go with PWS and Dean as they offered me the best deal's, their prices on the runout models were cheaper than everyone else's aswell. I told Dean what i wanted and he gave me a price, wouldn't budge on it but it was the price i got by a long way. He didn't try and shove any bullshit down my throat or force me into things i didn't want nor need. Mine was one of the first MKII xr8's delivered through these guys and i must say not to many dealers are willing to go near the great deal i got 7 months later. Car was delivered without any dramas end of story. I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that 99% of the customer's that leave PWS, Deans in particular leave very very happy and hassle free.
One very happy PWS/Dean customer
Is that a customer's car Dean or just one you guys ordered. Wouldn't be intrested in a set of DEVL R plates for it at all would you.

I purchased my ute from Dean and with 1 PM and a couple of phone calls got a deal that no other dealer would come close to touching, including one who was getting me a price as a favor to his brother who is a mate of mine. Not only that but he also organised to have it delivered through another dealer so I didn't have to get it on a ferry to get it back to tassie (where I was living). I still haven't met him face to face but hope to at EC in a couple of weeks just to say thanks in person.
Don't know Ratt personally, all I can say is we need more guys like him on here.

I just find that the deals you offer on the forums, is nothing better than I could get at any Ford Dealer, have checked it out - so the those of you who responded to my thread with name calling, can choke on that.
As for remembering me, that's bullshit. I have not dealt with you on any personal issue or car sale before in here or in person at your dealership.
I have no time most car salesman, and after almost 20 years of driving and buying cars, I'm entitled to that opinion.

choke on what, choke on the dealer principal of one of NSW's largest ford dealers saying he could match the price but not beat it? choke on excellent service? choke on him organising another dealer to do delivery for me because it was more convenient for me even though they got the dealer delivery fee? choke on what mate? the fact that dean doesn't fit your preconvieved notion of what car dealers are like?
Dean - you going to be at EC for the V8's?

If your focus is on price every dealer buys at the same price so in theory anyone can do the same price. But that's in theory. It is up to the individual salesperson to decide what price to sell a car at. But it goes further again.
If you buy solely on price with no focus on service, honesty and delivering on promises then that is your choice.
I don't need to convince you that I am any better than anyone else, I just do my job the best I can and serve the buyers interests as well as satisfying my employer enough for them to keep me employed. Anyway enough about that.
And I do remember you very clearly from the old site as you did the exact same thing in a thread on the PWS forum that existed there.

What he said ^^^^^^
I bought my XR6T from Dean just over 12months ago and i couldn't be happier with the car or after sales service. As with XRQTOR, i told him what i wanted and i got it at a great price with no bullshit. I dont know of many/any dealers that go on car cruises with clients or show as much intrest after the sale other than Dean. If i hadn't been to PWS, i would be saying the same about dealers. I was with my dad when we bought our new VW Transporter, my sister with her Subi Liberty, and my other sister with her Echo and after the dealers hand over the keys, thats it, see ya later, dont want to know ya. Deans not like that. But if you'd been to PWS, you'd know that.

Well, i'm in for one and have sorted one here in Adelaide, and will trade my much loved XR8 3 for it, i was not really looking to upgrade but it an offer that i could not walk past not only for the extra value but i also believe it could hold some extra re sale value in a few years ( 07 ) when they bring out the next models.
intended work on this bad boy will be simple on the outside, dump it, tints, quad system and maybe some 19" wheels ( will just box the originals for when i sell it ), the lean n clean look i suppose, but then to work on one bad arse motor and drive train setup and what exactly i am not sure but am open to suggestions and will also be speaking with the mod guys who support the forum.

Shockwave,
A valid point, and i knew about the six speed auto coming out but for some reason did not take it into account.
What would be the overal impact of the 6 speed auto on the current BA2 value, i know when i purchsed the AU and not long after the BA came out the valur of the AU dropped greatly as the BA had the goods, will it be the same with the 6 speed auto.?

A good indication of the value drop Doc would be the transition from 5 speed manuals to the 6 speed late last year in the mark II upgrade..
Dealers are giving huge discounts to get rid of Mark I 5 speeds as no one wants them now, therefore hurting resale drematically. The same thing will happen with the Auto, it might not be as bad but who knows, at the end of the day it comes down to how well the transitions goes and how many 4 speed autos Ford are left in dead stock having to sacrific to move them.

Thats a bit of an indication, but you also have to consider that the Mark II is a little more expensive... This isnt a very good example either, but thats how Redbook sees it.
The only thing that really would turn me off buying a new BA XR8 at the moment in an Auto is the fact that the next one is going to be bloody brillant, and considering your already paying around $55,000 for a Devil R, which at the end of the day is an stock XR8 less the badges and those darker rims with a few options, you probarly wont pay much more for a Mark III 6 speed with leather!
I dunno, the Devil R is a nice car, but for 5 - 6 months I think you would be extremely dissapointed when the next one was released which will probarly have new alloy designs along with a few other changes, and considering the Mark II wasn't that huge change wise I think the III will be!
Just as a little indication of how prices are going, I could have picked up a Mark 1 XR8 Sept plate for $43 grand last week in auto with the 18s and Prestige sound (both of which have been standard since May last year). This car was brand new, nothing wrong with it, but just gives you an indication of what they are going for even tho they are 04 plates and still Mark 1's.
Cheers, shockwave it really is some food for thought and will try and digest the info and will try to way it all up, the 6 speed auto does sound good and could very well affect the pricing, it seems you really need to try and stay ball with new models and how this affects pricing, i know with the AU 3 i have lost some $ with that i would like to think that even though there is loss with any new car after you drive it out of the showroom that if this can be kept as low as possible the better it is.
shockwave do you have a red book on AU 3 XR8 AUTO ?

S*** you would hope the BA XR8's hold their value better then the AU.
Thats less than 40% of new value at three years or four years depending on the plate not the rego year I guess.
This is what makes the bloody HSV's look good at least you have got some resale value!! its not funny if you lease them its worth considering.
A wanker mate of mine drives boxters on two year leases and when you factor in all the costs its cheaper for him to have a new boxter every two years than to own and drive an HSV monaro and even they have better resale than the Fords. What is it with Ford with their dumb short term marketing strategies to kill loyalty to the brand. Don't they get it? Every time a new model MKII etc comes out they absolutely kill off the resale of the old model with the clearance prices. I wish I worked for Ford I could teach then something.
Aspirational purchases and psychological pricing models from marketing 101.
